Positive Behaviour

Our Catholic faith and identity reminds us that we are created in the image of God- everybody matters and matters absolutely! At St Thomas School and Preschool, our behaviour education is grounded in this unconditional love.

We strive to build strong relationships, establish positive routines for learning and have high expectations. We work in partnership with parents. We strive to be calm and consistent.

We know that all behaviour is purposeful behaviour. The important questions are, what is the learner needing or wanting in this situation and how can we provide for this in a positive way.

Our behaviour learning is based on Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS). PBIS is grounded in the understanding that expected behaviours need to be taught and positively reinforced. 

Our whole school expectations provide the clarity of expectations for our learners and teachers.

Our learners are reminded of these expectations within classroom learning spaces and through whole school activities.
