Student Devices
At our primary school, we are dedicated to equipping our students with essential digital literacy skills through personalized technology integration. The Early years classes have a bank of iPads which the students have access to for their learning throughout the school day. Beginning in Year 3, each student receives their own device: iPads for Year 3 and 4, and MacBooks for Year 5 and 6. These devices are provided by the school. This individualized approach ensures that students have the tools they need to engage in interactive and collaborative learning experiences.
Our curriculum emphasizes the safe and responsible use of technology as a learning tool. Students learn how to navigate digital environments with confidence, acquiring skills in device organization, file management, and effective use of educational apps and software. Beyond technical proficiency, our focus is on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and ethical decision-making in the digital realm.
Through hands-on activities and projects, students develop the dispositions needed to harness technology for research, communication, and creative expression. They learn to collaborate effectively, problem-solve independently, and adapt to evolving digital landscapes, preparing them for success in a technology-driven world.
At St Thomas School and Preschool, we believe in empowering students to become responsible digital citizens who use technology purposefully and ethically to enhance their learning and contribute positively to their communities. Join us in cultivating a generation of learners who are confident, capable, and compassionate in their use of technology.
