Ecology Leaders

Our Ecology leaders are a team of dedicated young people committed to caring for the Earth and meet regularly to partake in activities that allow them to experience and grow in their knowledge of the environment. They are team of students aligned vertically across all year levels that meet to discuss, make decisions and enact environment-base projects in the school. Although working towards a common goal, our leaders form part of a smaller team which support different parts of our ecological journey. Our Ecology leaders have raised funds to support the introduction of a chicken coop to the school yard, worm farms and most recently a pre-loved uniform shop. The funds from uniform sales have also funded the commercial coffee making equipment for our very first onsite café offering coffee and treats on Friday mornings in our workshop to our community.

The Plants and Earth Team
Care for the Environment

Our ‘Plants and the Earth’ team are responsible for educating their own classes on caring for the environment. They are responsible for classroom food scraps and educating around our schools ‘Nude-Food’ focus to ensure good buying habits and positive environmental choices at home and school. The team research and plan seasonal planting in the school’s gardens, tend the gardens and use our food scraps to service our worm farms that produce fertiliser for our plants. Our plant team even run their own pre-loved uniform shop - which has come about due to concern for the Earth (saving hundreds of items from landfill yearly). They've also established a coffee pod recycling collection point in partnership with Nespresso and hold plant and citrus sales during the year from our Market Shed.

The Animal Team
Care for God’s Creations

We have chickens in our school which give us a purpose for our waste education and make it a meaningful process for our students. Our chickens produce fertiliser for our gardens and free-range eggs for our school cooking and are sold to the community to raise funds to support our chicken upkeep. Our animal team tend to our chickens, clean the coop, collect the eggs and educate their classes in this space. They also monitor bird boxes in our school grounds which house Eastern Rosellas in the spring which have been productive and safe homes for these birds for a number of years successfully. Our worm farms are another area of ecology that give meaning to our waste management with some of our food scraps feeding our worms which provide some of the fertiliser used for our school gardens.
