Debating

Debating is an extracurricular program that St Thomas school offers students in a unique opportunity to participate in the South Australian Debating Association competition. This program is designed to foster essential skills such as critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and persuasive communication.

Through structured debates, students learn to construct coherent arguments, engage in thoughtful analysis, and articulate their ideas confidently. They also develop active listening skills by considering opposing viewpoints and responding effectively. The collaborative nature of debating encourages teamwork and helps students build mutual respect and empathy as they work together to present their cases.

By participating in the South Australian Debating Association, students gain real-world experience and exposure to diverse perspectives, preparing them for future academic and professional endeavours. Our debating program not only enhances their intellectual capabilities but also instils a sense of confidence and resilience that will benefit them throughout their lives.
